About

About the Golden Gate District

The Golden Gate District (within the Golden Gate Area Council) serves scouting in the city of San Francisco and a northern portion of Daly City. The District hosts 29 Packs, Ships, Troops, and Clubs

Geographic Area Served

The Golden Gate District serves the City and County of San Francisco, as well as the northern portion of Daly City. We are the only District in the Golden Gate Area Council that is on the San Francisco peninsula.

Golden Gate Area Council Map

As far back as 1964, the area now served by the Golden Gate District was split into 10 separate Districts: Embarcadero District, Mission Trails District, McLaren Park District, Sunset District, Lake Merced District, Twin Peaks District, Balboa District, Buena Vista District, Richmond District and Golden Gate District. More history on the legacy SFBAC (San Francisco Bay Area Council) can be found here.

To the north of our District is the area served by the Marin Council, and the area to our south is served by the Pacific Skyline Council

Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The Golden Gate District is committed to the BSA's DEI Mission and Vision:

BSA DEI Mission: To promote a culture where every youth, volunteer, and employee feels a sense of belonging and to build communities where every person feels respected and valued. Leading by example and encouraging each other to live by the values expressed by the Scout Oath and Scout Law, we welcome families of all backgrounds to help prepare young people to serve as successful members and leaders of our nation’s increasingly diverse communities.

BSA DEI Vision: To partner with all families and communities in raising young people of high moral character, developing their leadership skills, and preparing them to serve and thrive in a world of increasing complexity and challenge.
