It Takes All Of Us

It takes over 400 registered adult leaders to deliver great scouting programs to over 1,000 youth in San Francisco / Daly City. The daily work of these dedicated volunteers deserves recognition, and each year we do so at our Golden Gate District Volunteer Recognition event. We need your award nominations, we hope to see you at the dinner and please send us your unit's photos/videos for the dinner slideshow!

Nomination Process

Know a leader that deserves recognition at our District dinner? Sure you do! You can nominate them for one of our District Awards with one step:

What Awards Can I Nominate Someone For?

We have a large variety of awards to give out at the District Recognition Dinner. These awards include:

• For adult leaders in all scouting programs:

  • District Award of Merit (complete separate nomination form, see more info in the next section)

  • District Volunteer of the Year

  • Unit Commissioner of the Year

  • Unsung Hero Award

  • Spirit Spark Award

  • Advancement Coordinator of the Year

  • Unit Trainer of the Year

  • Scouting for Food Volunteer of the Year

  • Chartered Organization Representative of the Year

  • Committee Chair of the Year

  • Committee Member of the Year (includes Treasurer, New Member Coordinator, etc)

• For Scouts BSA Leaders:

  • Scoutmaster of the Year

  • Assistant Scoutmaster of the Year

• For Sea Scout Leaders:

  • Skipper of the Year

  • Mate of the Year

• For Explorer Leaders:

  • Club Sponsor/Post Advisor of the Year

• For Cub Scout Leaders:

  • Cubmaster of the Year

  • Assistant Cubmaster of the Year

  • Webelos/AOL Leader of the Year

  • Den Leader of the Year

What Are the Award Criteria?

We trust you to know when a leader has earned special recognition. If you think they deserve to be honored, please nominate them. A few particular awards, explained:

District Award of Merit ➡️ The highest award we present at the District Level, it is available to registered Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. For this award only, complete this form and email it to Steve Welch: stevenwelch22@gmail.com

Unsung Hero Award ➡️  Given to those who work behind the scenes, often without recognition, on tasks critical to delivering our scouting program to youth members.

Spirit Spark Award ➡️ The person(s) who raise the level of scouting spirit in your unit deserve the Spirit Spark Award.

As is tradition, we will feature a slideshow of photos and videos of all of the great scouting activities in our District from 2023... but we need your help! Use the button below to send us your unit's photos/videos. 

Will my pictures be kept private?

YES. This slideshow will ONLY be shown at the dinner and will not be made available on the internet. Privacy of your leaders and scouts is very important and will be protected.
